Big push for smallest color laser printer

Sep. 20, 2006

Cheil Communications' TV, Print Online Creatives to Run Worldwide Seoul, September 20, 2006 - Cheil Communications Inc., one of the world's top 20 advertising and marketing communications agencies, has launched a major new marketing campaign for Samsung Electronics' CLP-300/300N, the world's smallest and lightest color laser printers. The global campaign, which includes a TV spot, print, online and outdoor elements, will roll out across more than 10 other markets. The TV spot debuts in South Africa on Sept. 21. The creatives highlight the space and time saving advantages of Samsung's mini laser printers. The campaign was developed by Cheil's Seoul-based Global Creative Team, headed by Joe McDonagh. The print ad shows a man standing inside a massive box the size of a regular color laser printer, holding the tiny CLP-300 lightly in his hands. The copy reads: 'Imagine a small color laser printer that's big on the inside.' In the TV spot, people are shown tiredly queuing in line. Another shot shows a group of businesspeople standing behind a large printer waiting in frustration for their prints to emerge. The narration reads: 'Imagine never having to wait in line for your number to be called, or for your color laser prints. The wait is over.' The ads were shot at the Herman Miller office design building in Vancouver, Canada by Bob Rice of Plum Production. 'Bob captured the pure agony and frustration of queuing. Who isn't looking for a solution to that? Well here's a product that actually enhances your life,' said Global Creative Director Joe McDonagh. 'The added benefit is that you can add the CLP-300 to your routine without having to redesign your whole home or office.'
