Cheil wins bid for Incheon World City Expo project

Seoul, June 26, 2007 : Cheil Communications Inc., one of the world's top 20 advertising and marketing communications agencies, has won a bid to provide full event and marketing support for the World City Expo 2009 Incheon, Korea. Cheil was bidding as part of a consortium together with POSCO Engineering Construction. The turnkey project will cover all elements of event management and execution from planning, branding, advertisement and public relations, to exhibition and convention hall design. The World City Expo 2009 Incheon, Korea will cover a massive exhibition site of around 95,000 square meters and is expected to draw more than 10 million visitors to the city of Incheon, located on South Korea's west coast about 30 kilometers from Seoul. Chan-Hyung Kim, Cheil's Vice President for Promotion Services, said the World City Expo, taken as a whole, represents one of the biggest integrated marketing projects held in the South Korean event industry. 'We will commit ourselves to making the World City Expo a clear success and positioning Incheon as a true international hub,' Mr. Kim said. 'We believe this project will provide an opportunity to showcase Cheil's capabilities and pave the way to winning further major international events going forwards.' Cheil has significant experience in executing major international events, including the 1993 Daejeon World Expo, the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea-Japan Opening Ceremony, the 2004 African Cup of Nations Opening Ceremony, and 2005 APEC Summit Cultural Performance. The World City Expo 2009 Incheon, Korea, hosted by Incheon Metropolitan City and ncheon International City Expo Organization, will be held for 80 days from August 14 through November 1, 2009.
