Cheil Communications Creative Launches New WiBro Brand
Seoul, April 4, 2007 - Cheil Communications has launched a new advertising campaign for KT, South Korea's leading integrated communications service provider, highlighting the fast upload capabilities of its wireless broadband service WiBro.
The advertisement, which began showing on South Korea's major TV networks from March 31, features surrealistic imagery of people and ordinary objects floating up into the air as an eye-catching metaphor for 'uploading' using the mobile service.
While the rapid download speeds of the WiBro service are well known, the new spot aims to highlight how users can use the quick upload capabilities to share photos, songs, video clips and other content with friends and other internet users.
The advertisement, which was filmed in Sydney, Australia, starts with the image of an electric guitar smashing through a shop window and being 'uploaded' into the sky. An array of the other objects follow suit, including a shop mannequin, a car, books, and even a man who is lifted away from his surprised girlfriend.
With all of these objects floating up above the cityscape, the spot then pauses to reveal a woman sitting in a convertible using her portable digital device. The voiceover heads 'Upload, Go!' and the woman hits a button, causing a skyscraper in the background to liftoff into the air.
The advertisement aims to capture the sense of freedom and power experienced by users who are able to share their experiences and creativity online - at anytime and from anywhere.
Beginning with this commercial, KT is implementing aggressive marketing strategy to promote the KT WiBro technology, which has four times faster upload speeds than competitor's 3.5-generation mobile services.
